We have written a prayer that you can pray for Japan.  Various people at The Light contributed to this prayer and this was the direct result of being in prayer.

First, I do not believe that God directly caused an earthquake that killed all those in Japan.  Prophecies given about an earthquake coming to Japan does not mean that God is the cause.  God can reveal what is going to happen but not necessarily cause that to happen.  I believe that God is grieved at the loss of life.  God wants all to know Him.

This is the time to pray and love the people of Japan.  From Genesis through Revelation, God instructs his children to stand in the gap and cry mercy on behalf of the innocent and destitute.  We are His watchmen called to action as a point of contact for His victory, His provision and His peace to invade the earth through our prayers because Jesus, the Great Intercessor, has redeemed us with His blood.  We are His royal priesthood with authority to bring God's peace to any storm. Let us plead the blood of the victorious Lamb over Japan.  

Press in and pray for an awakening for the people of Japan in the midst of this turmoil, that they would find true comfort and peace in the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.   

Prayer for Japan 

Our Almighty God in the midst of chaos and disaster bring redemption!  

We declare shalom to the earth. The earth has moved, the water has moved, and fires are out of control.  Jesus spoke a single word and the earth responded.  We declare resurrection to the land of Japan.  We declare that your Spirit blow all over Japan.

We declare shalom to the nuclear reactors.  Jesus, rebuke the spiritual powers who would bring destruction.  Terminate the reactors. 

We declare shalom to the families who have been torn apart.  We declare shalom to those who have lost loved ones and homes.  We extend your compassion.  Return joy and peace to the land.  Fill your Spirit across the nation. 

We declare God’s glory and wisdom to the teams that are working on the nuclear reactor crisis, searching for survivors and serving the displaced.  May the Glory of God shine through these people who serve.  May your glory shine through the disaster.   

We declare VICTORY for Japan.  We break the spiritual and violent sword that was lifted up in ages past and unleashed generational confusion.  We break the sword of defeat that Emperor Hirohito laid down during World War II.  We break the sword of destruction that unleashed the fury of the earth last week in Japan.  We ask Lord Jesus to pull out this sword that is frozen in time over Japan.  We declare “Shouri” or “Victory!.” 

We declare that Japan is the land of the rising Sun.  We declare that Japan is the land of the rising Son, the Son of Righteousness. 

(Prayer of Identification Repentance from Daniel 9)

I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed: “Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws.   “Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you.  (Daniel 9:4-7) 

“Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary (Japan). Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”  (Daniel 9:17-19) 

Japan bears your name.  We declare Japan to be the land of the rising Son.

Victory in Japanese means “the edges of the swords not being stained with blood.” 

An interesting fact is that on March 11, 2009, exactly one year before the earthquake, Japan spoke officially and strongly against Israel and their resettlement of their land. 

Scriptures: 

Is. 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.”

Psalm 60:1b,2, “Oh, restore us again! You have made the earth tremble; You have broken it; Heal its breaches, for it is shaking.”

2 Sam. 24:25b, So the LORD heeded the prayers for the land, and the plague was withdrawn from Israel.

Ps. 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Joel 2:17 “Between the vestibule and the altar let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep and say, ‘Spare your people, O Lord’” (Joel 2:17).

Joel 2:32 “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
